I've never been one to get too hung up on pristine looks for those things that will eventually show wear and use. Like light-colored handlebar tape and saddles. I like that look - it shows that you're actually using the damned thing. I had a bright yellow Selle Italia Turbo on my Gitane for over 20 years and liked the "grunginess" it acquired over the years. Like a fine patina.
