This guy is no asset to any organization regardless of their political outlook. He should be roundly condemned internally and probably sanctioned.

After he is hopefully convicted of assault, the young woman should retain counsel and sue this guy for everything he is worth. Imagine a guy like this in front of a DC jury!

This kind of stuff has to stop. There is no possible justification for such an assault and until everyone - regardless of the size of their ego - understands that there are serious ramifications of their action they will continue.
