I think it would depend on a number of things:
- The rider weight the bike is rated for
- The weight of the actual rider
- How far the seat post is extended
- how far the rack sits from the seat post
With a rider who is tall and heavy enough, adding any weight may be an issue. With a shorter lighter rider, the maximum rack rating could be no problem at all.
