I am a carbaholic. If I eat one carb I have to have more. If you remember the old potato chip commercial where they bet you that you can't eat just one. Well that commercial was and is talking to me.
My diet is one lb of tri color cold slaw, 4 table spoons of mayo, 2 cans of tuna fish per day. Some days I will replace a can of tuna with a can of black eye peas. Very simple diet. I don't have to do any exotic cooking. I don't have to count up all the calories or points or carbs or fats. When my garden was producing I would substitute stir fried okra for the cold slaw and maybe throw in a squash or two. Very simple but very restrictive diet. It is probably not for everyone.
The reason that I want to be at the bottom of my bmi is because I am a type two diabetic. There is some research that says that some about 50% of type two diabetics can get rid of the diabetes by going on a 300 to 600 calorie a day diet for one week. This supposedly depletes the pancreas of fat which allows it to produce enough insulin. My thinking is that if I can get to the bottom of the bmi and then do the 300 calorie a day routine that my chances of getting rid of the diabetes will be increased.
I expect that this last 20 lbs will take longer to lose than the first 40 lbs. Just due to the fact that the body is becoming more efficient and not having to carry extra weight around all day long. But if the weight just does not want to drop anymore I will just have to try other measures to see if I can find something that will work.
I like to do recreational tree climbing and the weather has cooled off so I went out yesterday and did a small climb. Climbing a rope and not having to carry the extra 40 lbs up was a blessing. I am going to have to do some more tree/double rope climbing this week just to sit in the tree and let the wind rock me a little. This climbing uses other muscles than biking so maybe it will help balance and mix up my exercise.
