I'm just a recreational cyclist, and want to be sure I've got what it takes a) to sit on a bike for 4+ hours, and b) to get up the El Tigre climb.
a) I can work on by myself, but I've been having trouble finding a good equivalent to b) here in San Diego. I'm in Mission Valley, so I'm familiar with climbing up Ulric St., and Texas (oof), and Mission Village out of Qualcomm, but those are all short. I've done Mission Valley over the top to Santee, and the Mast-Santo 52, and Mt. Soledad (just the easy main route so far), but those seem to be easier grades?
I was wondering if some of the experienced R-E riders could give me a good local climb that I could use to evaluate my readiness - and yes, I know it's different after a prior 20+ mile ride!
Thanks!

If you can do this, you can do anything. Just do it on a cool day I almost got heat stroke, it was 109 degrees when I did it. It is brutal!
