Rest/Time Off after 100K

Did my favorite ride on Saturday, 100K in Perry County Pennsylvania. I averaged about 13.5 MPH, and I took time to stop and enjoy the view a few times. A couple of times I let thinner, younger riders set the pace and and I kept up pretty well. I probably need to vary my training routine so I can get some speed in addition to endurance. Anyway, is there a good rule of thumb for the number of days off after a challenging metric century. I may be thinking another day off would have been good because I ended up changing a tube in the rain today!
