Today when switching my cog when I was putting my lockring back on my hub stripped out where the lockring threads. I have done this countless times and I know the proper way of doing it so as far as I know it wasn't error on my behalf. I'm wondering why this happened? Could it just be because it is just an average non-fancy formula hub that isn't that nice anyways or could it be the lockring, which is also formula, that caused it?
Formula lockrings are known to have very badly-machined edges that can do a lot of damage to hub threads - especially after a few installs/uninstalls. I've seen some that have literally felt serrated, which isn't good. That's most likely the culprit.
