Bad part is you're throwing away new bar tape, good part is you can get a new, cool color and bar tape is usually pretty cheap.
Nice thing is the stock tape on these is non-adhesive (at least mine was) I'm a total scrapper when it comes to bike stuff so when I changed the bar out I just re-used the tape.
