Similar to what you described above. Mainly grease the gears and a few drops of 3 in 1. They continue to work flawlessly so either I'm doing something right or Campagnolo did.

FWIW I have only done his process one time to each of my shifters, one set was a a little grimy/dry/dusty when I received it and the other three sets felt left out so I cleaned them too. I noticed on my 9s Athena the shifts were crisper after the process but the others felt great before and after.
