The indexing for IGHs is in the shifter, not the hub. So if it doesn't hold the gear when properly adjusted it's almost certainly a worn shifter. I had an almost identical issue with a Sachs Torpedo (aka SRAM T3). See this thread... http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...rom-1st-to-3rd
