I move pedals around, but I'm aware it's not a good idea. I ride SPD-SLs, and now that Shimano "upgraded" the Ultegra pedal I have been able to pick up several pairs of good used 6610s (the old/original) for $30 and less on ebay. It's making my life easier.
Look Delta pedals are even cheaper - heck, I have two old unused ugly pairs myself.
