Both my Apex equipped Vaya and my Rival equipped Cervelo did the exact same thing in the first 100 miles or so. Shift to the smallest rear cog and feel the derailleur cable, I would guess that it is very slack. Take out some of the slack with the barrel adjusters and go for a test ride.
