Bikes: Revell Romany, very old (50's?) fixed wheel of unknown origin.

Excellent info and it makes perfect sense, thanks. I did check my frame number with Mercian but they don't recognise the frame number, though they didn't rule out the possibility that they built it. The frame does look very like the Mercian 'King of Mercia' with the 'heart' cutout on the lugs, the ‘Italian style’ seat stay tops and the ‘Romani’ forks crown.
