I also use a Road Morph G, but I ignore the gauge. From pumping about a zillion tires, I know exactly how the pump feels at various pressures, so I pump until it feels right. I don't think the thumb is nearly as accurate, and doubt that the gauge is, either. I don't carry a separate gauge because I know I would never use it.
