Let's do the math. If you live 25 miles from your work, it probably takes at least 30 minutes to drive there, considering traffic and speed limits (25 minutes would mean a 60mph average speed). So there's 1 hour round trip. Now if you spend an hour working out at the gym...plus let's say 30 minutes of travel and shower time, we've got 2.5 hours dedicated to commuting and workout. So if we eliminate the work out and drive commute and replace them with a 3 hour bike commute, we've only lost a half hour of our "disposable" time.

For some that is an acceptable loss...for others, not so much.
