I installed a trailer hitch on my Honda Civic a few weeks ago to replace a trunk mount I had been using for a few months. I was worried about damaging the trunk lid with the trunk mount, my bikes are pretty heavy.

I bought a Curt trailer hitch and Allen rack from Amazon and installed them myself in about 40 minutes. I use a bungee cord to keep the bike(s) from flopping around.

I used to put the bike with 26" wheels in the back of the car, but I had to remove the seat post and front wheel and I just got tired of doing that all the time. My 29er won't fit at all unless I remove one of the pedals.
