Can't they just standardize this crap? Seriously.
Time moves on, now 1.25" (31.8mm) oversize is the 'new standard'..

MTB bars use a different Tube diameter for their controls to fit on
than Road bike bars , 7/8" vs 15/16" [metric equivalent]
