I don't know about any of this stuff. All I know is that I've probably spent $25K or so (give or take) on bike crap over the past 7 years. I strongly feel it has been money well spent for a number of reasons. Whether you spend $500 or $50K, if that's how you feel about it, then it's probably working of you.
+1. I was about to say 25K is a lot, but then I remembered that I spent about $3000 on R/C cars in 4 years.
