There is no other simple test. From the articles it sounds like other than PSA you go with a biopsy based on clinical symptoms. If I was in himespau's situation I would probably elect to have the test. Prostate cancer runs in the family, hits early, and kills so his cancer is much more likely to be disastrous than the average Joe's. For the average Joe the calculation is more difficult. Even a positive biopsy may not call for treatment. Once we get into our 70s the treatment is likely more dangerous than the disease.
