The previous owner of the 2008 Maddy I had crammed a 27.2 post in there as well. Removing it was hellish. I'd go back to a 27.0 if you can.

If a seatpost isn't marked, the general rule I stick by is to make sure the bottom of the post is at least an inch below the bottom of the top tube.
