Well I finally took Beanz advice and went for GMR. It was a perfect day to attempt, not hot and not cold. My ride started around 945 am and the first 4 miles were tough, had to stop twice to catch my breath.
The road was very empty, no bicycles passed me until the 4 mile mark, and it was a pleasant surprise though. This dude goes flying by me and says hi, he's on a mountain bike and I feel ashamed until I get a good glance at him. He just happened to be a world famous mountain biker, I yell his name and he gives me a thumbs up. Wish I could of got his autograph but there was no way in hell this Fred would catch him. I won't say his name in case that is his secret training ground; clue though, long dark hair and Hispanic.
Anyways, I keep chugging along and some other guys pass me up, I tell them this is my third time up and I am tired, just to hide my fredness a little, don't think they believed me, they kind of laughed.
My goal was to get to that shack for the first time, the one Beanz talks about. I made it, took some time but it was well worth the pain. I took some cool camera phone photos... and garmin connect link below.
Not pretty but I made it...

And found this little guy, he was dead thankfully. Mind you, these are Clyde hands for sizing comparison.
