You and your law-busting fellow travellers are in a state of profound denial. It is you guys who contribute largely to the prevailing view among motorists, that I share, that far too many cyclists are irresponsible and selfish in the manner in which they use the public roads. This is why you get no sympathy from me. If fellow cyclists aren't willing to confront the likes of you and try to influence your behavior positively then others will have to do it by other means, won't they?
The thinking appears to be, from what I read on this forum, that because a bicycle is an ultra-light conveyance compared to almost all other vehicles on the road a cyclist cannot possibly represent a threat to others. These cyclists think that only their own safety is at stake. Ergo, why shouldn't they do what they darned well like? Such a view is almost too foolish to take seriously but of course that would be a mistake. If these people can't figure out how their irresponsible actions can result in the injury or death of motorists or motorcyclists then there is obviously something profoundly amiss - under that cool looking helmet.
Nor do I relish the thought of extinguishing the life of a cyclist while riding to work on a 650 lb motorcycle because said cyclist has pulled a ***** and I couldn't avoid killing them. Don't be so selfish as to think that such an event would only have serious consequences for the person who died at the scene. And I'm not talking about picking up a few scratches on the crash-bar.
