Another matter of definitions. In my experience, the VCers do anything they want, without regard to the effect on anyone else, and then justify it as being "for my own safety". That you immediately go on to say that you pissing off motorists is of no consequence because there are pissed off motorists already is a clear illustration of the essentially egocentric nature of VC.
So are you saying that cyclists should compromise their safety in order not to inconvenience motorists? Sadly yes, there are motorists who are pissed. And if they weren't pissed at cyclists they'd be pissed at someone else on the road. Do there being pissed drivers on the road justify cyclists engaging in acts that will further piss them off? No, but those motorists who are pissed off will be pissed off no matter who is on the road in front of them or how fast they're driving/riding.

As I said in the previous post, I would like to think that there is some sort of middle ground between the two forms of riding. Why does it have to be one or the other? Why can't there be room for both forms of cycling?
