I thought he would take that bike to his grave, he loved it so much, but he ended up selling just the frame on ebay, it went for $1500 or something like that so he was happy. Apparently a frame-builder bought it to copy the design.
Yeah, I remember the auction, I didn't think it would go as high as it did since it was in such rough shape. If memory serves, George had the foresight to list the fenders separately and got another few hundred for them on their own.
