I'm OK with the sponsor simply allowing me to use their product. I've done that many times in my other racing. You don't get the product, you get the use of it for a specified time. If you break it, bummer. The sponsor will be the one out of money, but if you don't (and you try not to), then at the end of the sponsorship period you give it back in good condition. The sponsor may choose to re-up their sponsorship and let you use it again, sell it as a used product or hang it on their wall. It is a good way to get around hard feelings at the end of a deal.
This is what I do with wheels. For some guys I have them mark the wheel bags when they return them - as I know they will be getting the same set next year.
