16C with a headwind comparable to this morning, but it was a much much faster ride. I was able to wear shorts and I think that had a lot to do with it. Sadly that will probably be the last time I can wear shorts this year. Next weeks daily highs are forecast to be in the single digits.
A year ago next Wednesday was the first ride I did in the snow, luckily there is still none of that in the forecast. Last year it was November 10th when the snow arrived and stayed.
A few weeks ago I noticed a problem with my tail light. The batteries seemed to die much faster than the previous set did. So I made a note of the date I swapped the batteries and sure enough, they were noticeably dim when I arrived home today. That means they lasted just 7.5 round trips for a totally running time of no more than 9 hours, when the light is rated for 50 and I suspect I previously got well beyond that. The problems started about the same time I switched to a new package of alkaline batteries, but also when it started getting cold out. So I'll have to do some testing to see if it is the light or the batteries.
