I've only had my bike just over 6 months, but it's got 4500km on it already so I'll be probably upgrading some parts within the next few months. Only parts I've replaced so far are the wheels (because I kept blowing spokes on the rear) and the rear tire (which started separating from the wire bead).

How did you decide it was time to upgrade? I'm not really sure on the life span of parts like the bottom bracket, derailleurs, chain, etc, so I don't know when is an appropriate time to change them.
