There seems to be a lot of differing opinions on handlebar width. The common recommendation was to get drop bars that match the width of your shoulders. Grant Peterson of Rivendell (and others) recommends wider bars. Some, like
Jan Heine think that it depends on the steering characteristics (wheel flop) of the bike, but generally he likes narrow bars.
