I think the CXs I bought were slightly narrower, advertised 21 or 22mm. They're much more narrow than the 23c Michelin/Bontrager clinchers; the imperceptible gap between the clinchers and my seat tube becomes pretty obvious with the tubulars.
I wanted to buy tires from the shop that sponsors the club I race with, hence the Bontrager. I bought the Evos in a "non-shop" era. The Contis I had before I bought to support a local shop.
I usually race my tubulars 2x/week, try to get 2-3 hours on the wheels each week. I'm not shy when it comes to road hazards in a race - if I can use a sewer grate to move up (because everyone else avoids it), I will. The wheels are in decent shape right now, I could probably turn 3 spokes a 1/4 turn each. I haven't because I'm lazy.
I heard from someone that talked at length with Michelin techs about the factory in Thailand. Even though I trust him implicitly it's second hand so I try not to state that I "know" this to be true. I really, really hope Michelin gets into the tubular tire biz and makes a Krylion tubular.
lol TripleX. Okay, now I know. I don't know what the $79.99 Bonty tire is but I bought those too, put them on wheels (Reynolds DV46), and promptly loaned out the wheels for the season. I never rode them but my teammate has done fine on them. I think he's beat me in every race we've done together.
