i'm not sure exactly what you mean by "rear fork thing" but yes, that can be used as a fixed gear. you will never be able to put a rear brake on it, however, as your wheels are the wrong size, nor will you ever be able to use the front braze-ons without switching back to 26" wheels
By rear fork thing, I mean the picture of the rear view of the bike. Compared to road bikes(which have narrower and straight tubes), mines branches out and is curved. I don't know what it's called but its the two top bars on the rear triangle.

Sorry, my knowledge on bike anatomy is limited but I hope you guys know what I mean.
