Running a gear ratio like that posted above does have its benefits because (as I just posted right her eon this very page) bigger gears cause less wear on your chain and result in a smoother drivetrain. I think that dude just did it for looks though. There's also NO WAY he ever puts his hands out on the horns with that setup.
