I love incompetence!
My last trip to Performance I was seeing what kind of wide 26" slicks they had and pointed out to the salesman that I was running Slick City 1.25" on one of my bikes and liked them a LOT, but wanted something fatter for another bike of mine. The guy said "Those tires are made for trainers." I said, "No, dude. These are killer street tires for MTB rims!"
I found it humorous. I don't think they're paying that guy to know that much about their stuff and they won't pay the guy to stick around long enough to learn about their stuff either.
Ad copy about the tires from Performance website. Compare and contrast with what the dude said:

Maybe someday Performance will come out with a 1.95" Slick City, or I'll feel rich enough to put some Fat Franks on my cheep-o bike.
