Coldest riding day so far (and, I note purely for my own enjoyment, 4th day riding out of the last 5 days). Took the short way (8 miles ea way) because of evening commitments and the mess I knew I'd find on the towpath. Decided to put on tights this morning because the temps were supposed to be chilly, and I think I'm glad I did, but my legs felt really heavy. Of course, that could be because of the relatively heavy riding week as compared to the last 6 weeks or so.
I also threw on my showers pass jacket over my base layer, which might have been a bit of overkill, though I think I appreciated the wind blocking as I rode into the headwind up the Potomac. Perhaps the jacket over a t-shirt would have been plenty. One benefit of the cooler temps was many fewer folks on the Capital Crescent Trail this morning; I wonder if that will hold up this evening?
I think I need to replace the mud flap that tore off my front fender. I washed the bike after a wet ride on the towpath on Wednesday, and the down tube looks just as dirty after my ride this morning as it did when I finished my ride on Wednesday.
