I don't think you overreacted, and I agree with your point about personal responsibility. Maybe, just maybe, the next time she is about to do something idiotic, she might remember that there's a chance someone might point out her idiocy or outright laziness and she will choose to do the right thing. If you had done nothing, as most enablers in our society do(as already stated), that chance of remembering remains at zero.
