I find I am faster "out of the gate" (stoplights and whatnot) when I start out of a lower gear compared to many other folks I see who start from higher gears. I can get moving (and shifting) much faster while they're still trying to get clipped back in. Obviously I'm not a TdF contender and never will be, but a lot of the folks I see think they are
