Hi all,
I've just saved a very old Giant mount bike from the tip. Its got a very old style of Giant badge on the front, but the decals are in very bad shape and I can't make out any other markings.
The bike has Shimano Deore XT parts from the 80's I think.
Someone has fitted a very long handle bar extension to the bike + long distance tri athlete style handle bars and arm rests to the bike.
As I'm on a budge, I will cut the handle bars down to something lighter, instead of buying new ones.
As for the long extension that the handle bar is attached to, its got a hole in it where the front break cable wire goes through, the wire routes though the handle bar stem and comes out at the front where the stem and handle bar meet. I've never seen anything like it, and the guy at the bike shop says that to fit a standard shorter length stem, I'll also have to buy an adapter for the odd brake lever cable.
Any advice to get a shorter handle bar stem on there while saving money would be great, the bike is awesome in every other respect.
I know a picture says a thousand words
I'll see if I can borrow a dig camera from somewhere.
