I don't think the Git's any good for fixing. I think the curve is just an attractive way to guide the axle into the dropouts. The top of the dropout is too far away until you get all the way back, so you couldn't actually lock the wheel into place anywhere else.

Dropouts are simply angled to provide adjustment without screwing up your brakes.
