Was on my ride in to work yesterday, around 6:30 am so it was still dark. My ride is about 14 miles, most of it on a rural two lane road with decent shoulders, 45-55 mph speed limit.
As I'm nearing the halfway point I see a dead deer in the road...half in the road, half on the shoulder. So I slide over to cruise on by, and just as I pass it she raises her head! Oh crap...she's still alive, poor thing. I turn around and go back. She's lying there, head up, looking at me. No blood, so that's good.
Cars are coming up the road, so I pull my bike light off and wave it up and down to signal to them to slow, move over. I'm wondering what to do, debating if I should try to slide her off the road, if I should call someone to come. I don't really want to get kicked.
And then all of the sudden she stands, takes a couple shaky steps, and bounds off into the neighboring development.

She must have gotten clipped just minutes before I got there and was either knocked out or stunned badly. She seemed to run ok once she got to her feet.
Hope she makes it through hunting season - she deserves it.
