It's the overall story, the fact that Michael Douglas is an amazing bad guy/hero (I see him more as a hero) in that movie and all the underlying messages. I have a feeling a lot of people who see/have seen that movie don't get it and just think he's a maniac. Most people are oblivious of how completely ****ed up the world around them really is and when they see someone acting out against something unjust, it's easier to see a single person as crazy than it is to look at the bigger picture.
Also, I seem to have days like that all the time where I just feel like screaming "Clear a path, mother****ers! I'm going home!" and cutting down anyone in the world who gets in my way.
