If you keep doing the same thing your body becomes very efficent at whatever it is. I love to ride but it's become extremely difficult to get my heartrate up while riding. I agree that Mith sounds like he has a good case of his body adapting. Mith, have you thought about adding another type of exercise to what you are doing? Mix things up a bit? Not just aerobic, like skiing, but like working with weights?

I hope my metabolism picks up as I do more weight bearing and resistance exercises. I am sitting in our house in Minnesota right now, it is in the 20s outside. I have the heat on 75 degrees and my hands are freezing and I am wearing my woolies. Plus, my calorie needs are so low right now that keeping the weight off is difficult. I think that I still have signs of low leptin levels (a hormone that suppresses appetite), as my BP and bad cholesterol remain high and good remains rather low. Though my fasting blood sugar is excellent and I have no signs of insulin resistance anymore. There is no good test for leptin but I've thought about contacting a research lab that are working on tests to see if they could test me.
