I do not doubt that the calorie estimates provided by my Garmin Edge 705 are wildly inaccurate. Which model Garmin are you using? The older 205/305/605/705? Or the newer 500/800? I've heard that the newer models may be more accurate, but haven't had a chance to test them. As stated before, the calorie estimates provided by the older models are not accurate.
The 305 I used to have overstated my calorie consumption by more than 50%. The 500 I now have is better, I'd estimate that it errs on the high side by maybe 15%.
