I've been looking for a new fork and I've been weighing a few options. It needs to be 1" threaded, chromed, as close to 38mm rake as possible and under $100
Origin8 makes a track fork that's all of those things and only costs
$40 on citygrounds. The only thing that makes me nervous is the only review I could find said the following.
Not the highest grade steel fork and definitely not the lightest, this fork is still great in a fixed gear conversion of an old steel bike. Mine was a schwinn super le tour. That said, the most annoying part of getting this fork was setting the crown race. It comes out of the bag with a 27mm crown race and for any legitimate headset, I had to take it to a specialty shop to have it ground down to a 26.2, so be warned. Once the race was set, the 1" threaded steer tube tightened as expected and the fork performed well on my 10+ mile commutes.
I know my headset is 26.4. Can anyone confirm or deny this reviewer's claims?
The other one I've seen is the
straight blade fork on retrogression for $68. Would 41mm rake be at all noticeable compared to 38?
Any opinions or other options are appreciated!
