Thanks for the reply, Colleen. I can't remember the run time before turning orange because it was a long time ago that I turned in my original battery for the recall. IIRC when the light is orange this indicates 25% power remaining so I guess the indicator is inaccurate with the original battery. The indicator on my Cygolite Pace 310 is supposed to blink to indicate remaining charge but it doesn't. The Cygolite left me in the dark twice on my way home. Maybe these charge indicators are not worth much. I'm going to give the new MS battery a try and see how it goes but will be ready to grab the Cygolite if the MS is dead in the morning. It's really a hassle having to unplug the cable, especially since the new cable plugs are tighter fitting. I'm afraid I'll break the wire or something.
