In addition to snot rockets, I prefer my gloves to have a wool outer layer instead of nylon so I have something soft to wipe residual ickiness away. Unfortunately beyond a certain temperature or wind chill I have to switch to my nylon mitts as an outerlayer. I should construct a snot gauntlet using some soft material and elastic fabric.

When its warmer and I can get away with just my long sleeve poly baselayer, I just wipe my nose on the sleeve. I'll also do it when I'm wearing my army surplus sweater. I can't bring myself to do it if I'm wearing merino, or a jacket I walk around campus in as an outer layer.
