This is completely absurd. I see riders in my area on first generation looks, treks, and kestrels fairly often...all of those being twenty years old. Carbon fiber bike engineering isn't far away from aerospace and automobile carbon engineering in terms of advancement and manufacturing methods, and yet we still get threads like this (or that turn into this) every other month.
for the record the only frame i've broken (and i've crashed quite a few) was an aluminum soloist. a single piece of anecdotal evidence is worth piss in terms of scientific validity...but then, the premise that the thread hijackers have latched onto here was anecdotal as well, so go figure.
