I ride GP4000s and have been thinking about building up a set of XR-300s but don't want a tire/rim combo that creates nightmares out on the road when I flat.

My current wheels are Mavic OpenPros and the 4000s come off and go on easily with the following exception...I ordered several pair of 4000s this summer with the "reflex" sidewall (reflective) and found that they have been much more difficult to mount than my standard black 4000s. I also have a pair of the 4000s with the big block lettering that I haven't tried mounting yet but am curious if they will mount differently also.

Which "model" GP4000s do you have?

Finally...I struggled with a friends wheel this summer. She had a Easton EA-50 and we couldn't find a tire that she'd be able to change on the road. I went as far as asking BF members if they had difficulty with the EA-50s and the consensus was that many found getting tires on and off to be difficult. I contacted Easton and they've finally responded, asking my friend to get in touch with them and hinting that they might do a swap for her. We'll see if the new models are any easier if it comes to that.

So...different rim/tire combinations yield different results for sure.
