The Schwinn decal scrub has become a familiar ritual.
I've got 2 Super Sports (plus a third, but it's a 1979 Peugeot).
I keep the kickstand and the TwinStick shifters, but lose the discs. I needed special washers to secure the chainrings after removing that one.
The safety levers also get tossed, then I go searching for a longer stem with the odd "BMX" .833"/21.1mm diameter.
Lastly, I add a 13-28 6-speed freewheel and use a short-cage Alvit derailer (it shifts better because it puts the pulley closer to the smaller freewheel) and a modern chain. Oh yeah, the Rondonneur handlebar also gets replaced.
With all that done, the bike is fairly competitive on faster rides, but the one-piece crank and kickstand still gets a lot of attention.
I'm just now seeing all the photos. The clean-up was stunning!
The Gold one reminds me of my old Super Continental.
