Agree with thewire and zerogravity about getting a mtb for mtbiking. I decided to get a mtb because I felt I would shorten the life of my 8.4 by riding too many trails with it. Now I'm going to use it mainly for paved trails but use 700 x 35 tires on it for lower rolling resistance. I know it still weighs alot but I still have fun riding it as it is very comfortable even on long rides (40 miles or longer).
