Bikes: 2012 Cinelli Saetta, vintage steel cougar, Kona Jake

Any ads that say firm, I ignore, I don't care what it is. Chances are there will be somebody else selling the exact same thing either for a better price or is willing to wiggle on price. Used goods should be haggled. Bottom line is that used goods should be what a buyer is willing to pay. Not what the seller wants. I always list higher than what I expect. If I get the asking then bonus. I also set a minimum that I am willing to settle for. Any offers less than that, I won't accept. I also don't tell the buyer what my lowest firm prices is either. Anybody ask then I tell them the asking. If they're not willing to make an offer, than I don't want to give them a discount.

Also people can ask for whatever they want. But most people looking for a quality bike will have done their homework and will know what a fair price is. If you ask too much, your ad gets ignored and you basically weed yourself out of ever selling your bike. I don't know about other cities, but our ads have a ton of policing going on, which it totally pointless since it's usually directed towards higher end bikes, which again anybody who's looking for those will have done their research and not plop down a $1k+ without doing the research. So everybody already knows what it's worth. It's the low end stuff that's over priced and nobody says anything about that is the problem.
