Not all aluminum frames ride the same. I had a 1986 Cannondale SR600 and that thing rattled my bones! I also had a 1994 Trek 1200 and it rode smoothly and comfortably, really it felt like a steel bike. I don't have any experience with carbon, but I would love to have a Titanium bike.
